If my math is correct, it looks like the gold medal in the Matt Biondi Division will come down to Saturday night's men's 5000m featuring Bernard Lagat. If Lagat wins gold, it gives Shiffer Brains (Brian) an insurmountable score of 44 and the gold. If not, that puts Hellooo Olympian! (Dan) in the driver's seat.
With the silver medal from the women's water polo team earlier today, Dan's team currently has 37 points. He's already guaranteed at least 2 points from Rogers/Dahlhauser... and that will probably be 3. Dan also has the USA basketball team, which has looked to be in gold medal form. If they win Friday, that's another guaranteed 2 points for Dan, which ties things up. However, the most Dan could score at this point is 43.
It couldn't get much closer, but Brian is on the verge of a huge upset. Not only would he win the league without Phelps, he would do it from the 7th pick. I know I'll be watching that men's 5000m with great interest!
Either way, Dan and Brian will take the gold and the silver in some order. The Torch Bearer (Christy) looks to have the bronze, with (**SPOILER ALERT**) a silver earlier today from Allyson Felix and a probable gold from the USA Women's Basketball team later in the week. She will finish with either 39 or 40 points, just behind Dan and Brian (barring a huge upset of the men's basketball team).
Looks like the rest of us are playing for pride.

Angelo Taylor ran in the preliminaries of the 4 x 400. That means he will get a medal (and possibly 3 more points for Christy's team) if the U.S. can get it done in the final. Coupled with a gold from women's basketball, that would give her 43 points.
Dan is already guaranteed at least 42 points with Roers/Dahlhauser winning gold and the U.S. men advancing to the gold medal game. A win by Team USA would give Dan 43 points. If he and Christy tie, Dan has the advantage with China as the tiebreaker.
But Brian still controls his own destiny (as much as you can in Fantasy Olympics). If Lagat wins the 5000m, the division title is his. Anything less probably gives the gold to Dan. Unless, of course, Team USA falters on the basketball court while winning the 4 x 400. Then the gold goes to Christy. Got all that?
